lightsome writing for well-being

Hi, I’m Gen. I’m a Shetland-based writing coach, and I offer Wellness Writing sessions for businesses and organisations who want to nurture their people and build their resilience.

  • Is morale low among your team?
  • Are the people you work with in danger of burnout?
  • Have you noticed a decrease in productivity?
  • Is staff illness costing you time and money?

If you answered ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, you’re not alone.

Taking steps to nurture your team’s mental health will help you to reap the many benefits of a positive, dynamic and resilient workplace, where people feel truly valued.

How can I help?

I deliver Wellness Writing sessions to help people:

  • take charge of their mental health and wellbeing.
  • express their feelings in a safe and supportive space
  • have fun and bond with other session participants
  • develop personal stories they have felt shy about writing down
  • process recent traumas, for example a health diagnosis or a bereavement

Wellness Writing sessions boost morale, strengthen your team dynamic, unleash creativity and help your clients and employees to feel valued and cared for. If that sounds good, book a call with me.

Testimonials

Having suffered from occasional bouts of depression over the years, I decided that I needed some way in which I could express thoughts and feelings through creative writing.

On signing up for Gen’s Well-Being Writing sessions my first impressions were of her warm, friendly approach – encouraging without putting any pressure on participants. I felt that this style suited me. A more pressured approach would have probably caused me to clam up and, perhaps, stop coming all together. However, the friendly fashion of the sessions inspired me to write, without the fear of being ridiculed or criticised. In these calm sessions, I was surprised to discover that I was writing far more than I had ever done before.

As a result of the sessions, I have created several pieces of work of which I am very proud – work that can, perhaps, be springboards for more extended work.

For anyone considering working with Gen, I would say: “Do so. As well as leading the sessions, she is also open and willing to listen to any ideas or suggestions that participants may put forward – making them feel valued. You will never be put on the spot. You will not be judged. Give it a go!”

Tour Guide
. Participants in the Shetland Arts Well-being Writing sessions love how creative and empowered Gen makes them feel in her sessions.
I’ve heard glowing feedback from participants about the positive impact Gen’s sessions have had on their lives. As a result of Gen’s workshops, one participant is now an artist, and feels that her empowerment, confidence and creative skills have come from Gen’s Wellbeing Writing sessions (alongside another Wellbeing Arts session).
The breadth of impact that these sessions have achieved have exceeded my expectations.
Gen is approachable and endearing. She comes with fresh ideas and new approaches and is very reliable
Any endeavour with Gen is generally fun, lightsome and encouraging. I believe that as a person she brings out the best in people, and this genuine aspect of her personality is brought to Wellbeing Writing sessions.
To anyone considering booking sessions with Gen for their employees or service users I’d say ‘give it a try’. You can always stop the sessions if they’re not working – we have always had this in mind, however once they’ve started, we are always left with participants asking for more.
